Celebrating Dr. Alan Waitze’s Legacy and Welcoming a New Chapter in Neurosurgery at NOSS

At the end of this calendar year, the NOSS family and the Greater Waterbury community will be bidding a heartfelt farewell to Dr. Alan Waitze as he retires after decades of dedicated service. For years, Dr. Waitze has been a pillar in the field of neurosurgery, transforming lives through his skill and compassion, and we are deeply grateful for the impact he has made. Though we are thrilled for Dr. Waitze as he embarks on this well-deserved new chapter, his presence and contributions will be sorely missed by his patients, our team, and the entire community.

Throughout his career, Dr. Waitze has provided exceptional care, performing complex neurosurgical procedures that have helped countless individuals overcome challenges and regain quality of life. His unwavering dedication to the well-being of his patients and the medical community is a legacy that will continue to inspire us for years to come.

As part of ensuring the continuity of our high standards of care, NOSS is pleased to introduce Dr. Michael O’Brien, who joined our neurosurgery team in August. Dr. O’Brien brings a wealth of experience and specialized training in spine surgery, including both minimally invasive procedures and more extensive, open deformity surgeries. His clinical focus covers a range of areas including cervical spine disorders, chronic back and neck pain, degenerative conditions, spinal cord injuries, and spinal oncology.

Over the next few weeks, Dr. Waitze will be working closely with Dr. O’Brien to transition his active patients. This ensures that all individuals currently under Dr. Waitze’s care can continue to receive the dedicated, patient-centered approach they have come to expect. We’re confident that Dr. O’Brien’s engaging and collaborative approach will make this transition as seamless as possible.

We recognize that change can bring a degree of uncertainty, and our team is here to answer any questions or address any concerns that you may have about your ongoing care. Rest assured, NOSS remains committed to providing the highest level of neurosurgical expertise and compassionate care to each and every patient.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Waitze on his retirement and thanking him for his years of remarkable service. We’re honored to have been part of his journey and look forward to building on the strong foundation he has established here at NOSS.

Thank you for choosing NOSS – we look forward to continuing to serve you with the same dedication and care.
